2019 Fall Roundtable

Everything is Narrative: the English Major, Interdisciplinarity, and Beyond

Saturday, October 5th from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Seton Hall University in Fahy Hall, room 129

We hope, at this Roundtable, to exchange ideas on specific strategies and ideas about the state of our profession and our students’ experiences.

Our discussion will focus on the following questions:

  • What is the state of the profession?
  • Where do you think we are as writing and literature professors?
  • Thinking from our students’ points of view, we will talk about what you can do with an English major and think about the role of the English professor and the English major in our colleges, universities, the workforce, and the public discourse.
  • What kinds of jobs do English graduates hope to get?
  • How does the academy need to think about writing right now?

Several recent alumni of English undergraduate and graduate programs have been invited to join us to discuss their professional experiences.

There will be a $10 fee to cover the breakfast and coffee/tea expenses. The PayPal link should be active by September 30th, but you can also pay by check or in cash on the day of the roundtable.

Please RSVP to  Gabriel Ertsgaard at  gertsgaa@kean.edu by September 30th
